Bar menu templates built for low light

Cocktails need a story, spirits need a grid, and both need to be legible at eleven at night on a dim table. These templates are drawn for the room your bar actually is.

A wine list and a cocktail list are different animals

A cocktail earns three lines of copy. A spirits shelf earns a tight three-column grid with 30 ml and 60 ml pours. Most templates give you one layout and make you fight it — these carry both, in the same design.

  • Cocktail cards with build notes, glass and garnish
  • Spirits grids with 30 ml, 60 ml and bottle pricing
  • ABV, vintage, region and tasting notes where they belong
  • Happy hour sections that switch on and off by clock
  • Dark-room type sizes that survive a candle-lit table

What you can change

Yours after about four clicks

A template is a starting point, not a cage.

🍸

Pour sizes

30 ml, 60 ml and bottle prices on one spirits row instead of three separate lines.

🕑

Happy hour

A section that appears at five and disappears at eight, with its own pricing.

🍷

ABV & region

Strength, vintage and region as small type that does not crowd the drink name.

🎭

Build notes

Two lines of copy under a signature cocktail, and none under a classic.

🌓

Dark mode print

The same design as a dark-paper A5 for the table and a light PDF for the printer.

🚫

86’d in one tap

Kill a cocktail the moment the last bottle goes and put it back tomorrow.

Using a template

Template to live menu in four steps

1

Pick the mood

Speakeasy, rooftop, wine cellar or neighbourhood pub — pick the one your room already is.

2

Split cocktails from spirits

Signatures get build notes; the back bar gets a grid. Both live in the same template.

3

Set your pours and hours

Add pour sizes and a happy hour window once, and every affected line updates.

4

Publish both

The QR menu goes live and the A5 table card exports in the same click.

Choosing well

How to pick a bar menu template

Test it in your actual light

Bar menus are the one category where design fails for physical reasons. Open the template on a phone at the darkest table in your room at the hour you are busiest. If the price is hard to find, no amount of good typography elsewhere matters.

Signatures deserve copy; the back bar does not

Guests read three lines about a drink you invented. They do not read three lines about Tanqueray. Give your signatures a card layout with build notes and put the shelf into a dense grid — the contrast is what makes the signatures feel special.

Put the pour sizes in the row

  • One line per spirit, with 30 ml and 60 ml prices side by side
  • Bottle price only where you actually sell bottles
  • Never repeat the spirit name once per pour size

Plan for the list that changes weekly

A seasonal cocktail programme means the menu changes more often than the kitchen’s. Choose a template with clean section headers and no decorative furniture keyed to a specific number of drinks, or every rotation becomes a redesign.

Then let the numbers decide

Once it is live, analytics will tell you which signature nobody opens. That is a better reason to cut a drink than a hunch at the end of a shift.

FAQ

Questions we get asked most

Can the bar templates show 30 ml and 60 ml pour prices?

Yes. Pour sizes attach to the spirit as priced options, so each spirit stays one row no matter how many pours you sell.

Can I run a happy hour menu that switches on automatically?

Yes. Set a time window on the section and it appears and disappears at the hours you choose, with its own prices.

Are these templates readable in a dark room?

The dark templates are drawn at larger type sizes and higher contrast than the daytime designs, for exactly this reason. Check yours at your darkest table before you publish.

Can I show ABV, vintage and region?

Yes, as optional small type on each line. Turn it on for wine and whisky and off for cocktails.

What if we run out of a bottle mid-service?

Mark it 86’d from your phone in two taps. It greys out for guests instantly and comes back when you restock.

Are the bar templates free?

Yes. Every template is on every plan, including the free one. Paid plans add print-ready export and custom fonts.
